Scientists Heading to Eureka
March 26, 2008
Patrol scientists Luke Copland, Derek Mueller, and Andrew Hamilton depart from Yellowknife to fly to Eureka with the Rangers today. The last few days have been busy organizing equipment and supplies, including receiving their military- issued cold weather survival gear. The entire patrol will spend a few days in Eureka getting an operational orientation and packing supplies onto the komatiks (Inuit-made toboggans).
The patrol is currently scheduled to depart Eureka on March 31st. If the preparations go well and the patrol is ready, there is the possibility that we may leave a day or two earlier.
We will update the website as communications permit during the expedition.
The Canadian Forces have Combat Cam personnel on the patrol that will be taking photographs and video. They may have greater opportunity to get updates onto their website, so please visit their site once the patrol begins to see images from the patrol.
